Preliminary recognized!

With the first day of the New Year, our organisation will preliminary recognise two breeds – the Lykoi, called wolf cats, which promote our event, and the Bombay, called a mini version of the black panther. Both of these breeds will be on display at our event!

Lykoi, or „wolf cat” ? – the origin of this name comes from the incredible effect of this cat’s partial lack of fur. It is a new breed on which breeding work began in 2010-2011. However, the mutation causing the partial absence of hair, especially noticeable on the muzzle, and the derescence of the whole coat, had already appeared in litters of various cats before. It was thought to be a specific manifestation of the gene causing the lack of hair of Sphynxes or curly hair and lack of undercoat of Devon Rexes. However, it turned out that we were dealing with a completely different mutation.

The Bombay ?‍⬛impresses with every last detail. What most of us first notice is the ebony-black and shiny coat and the round eyes ranging in colour from gold to copper. Bombay cat is medium in size, with a strong musculature.

In many ways it resembles the Burmese cat and this association is by no means coincidental. The origins of the breed date back to 1953 and the American breeder Nikki Horner is believed to be its creator. She obtained this magical mini panther by combining the sable Burmese cat and the black American cat. And why the name? It’s all in tribute to the hometown of her favourite writer, Rudyard Kipling. By the 1970s, it had become a fully formed breed with officially recognised standards.
